Vineet Bhatia arrived in London in 1993 with little more than a suitcase full of books, love of Indian cuisine and passion for cooking! Fast-forward a few years and Vineet is the first Indian chef Patron to be awarded a Michelin star, has several restaurants, is the culinary ambassador of Qatar Airways, has published a successful cookery book, recorded a TV series, and is seen as the face of modern, progressive Indian cuisine.
Born in India in 1967, Vineet grew up in a middle class family in Bombay. His almost military style training at the Oberoi School of Hotel Management in New Delhi mixed with that one unquestionable Bhatia ingredient “passion” has created some of the most innovative and outstanding cuisine this century.
His recipe for success lies in his creations because they do not adhere to the norms of traditional Indian cuisine but are based on an idyllic balance between innovation and the utmost respect for Indian cuisine-‐ for which he received his first Michelin star in 2001, then in 2006 at his restaurant “Rasoi London” and in 2009 at “Rasoi, Geneva”, taking Vineet in the history books again as being the only Indian chef to have a star for his restaurant in the UK and outside of the UK.
